The ride-sharing service Lyft is looking to draft drivers in Portland following its launch in Maine's most populated city on Friday.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the service, which is similar to the popular ride-share app Uber that launched in Portland in 2014, contacted Jon Hinck, chairman of the City Council Committee on Environment and Sustainability, inviting him to join the service as a driver.
As the Portland Press Herald reported on Wednesday, Lyft contacted representatives of the Portland International Jetport earlier in the month about its plan to begin offering the service, which it began offering at 12 p.m. on Friday.
“Obviously, you have to have your system in place before you start offering your service,” Jetport Director Paul Bradbury told the BDN.
Update 7/29: Lyft has launched its service in Portland at 12:00 p.m. on 7/29
