In its latest ranking of the country’s best online bachelor’s degree programs, U.S. News & World Report puts the University of Maine at Augusta in the top 100.
UMA is No. 94 on the list, in a tie with several others. The magazine gives an enrollment figure of 3,268 in UMA’s online program, and puts the cost at $285 per credit for out-of-state.
Ohio State University in Columbus topped the list, followed by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Temple University in Philadelphia.
In a statement, UMA President Rebecca Wyke said the school’s ranking “is due to the extraordinary efforts of our faculty and staff providing quality online programs and support for our students.”
She added: “UMA has a tradition of meeting students where they are, offering classes onsite, online, through video conference, Interactive Television and at UMA Centers.”
UMA’s 12 online degree programs considered as part of the ranking were applied science, business administration, computer information systems, cybersecurity, information and library services, interdisciplinary studies, justice studies, mental health and human services, music (contemporary and popular), public administration and social sciences.
In addition to the degree programs, UMA offers numerous individual courses in online formats as part of other degree program curricula.
