University Credit Union has added Seth Poplaski to its team of community engagement managers at the headquarters in Orono.
Poplaski will cover central Maine alongside community engagement managers Jenn Deschene in Presque Isle and Lesley Ridge in Portland.
He will help build relationships with community stakeholders, participate in local activities, host financial education workshops and identify opportunities for financial sponsorship.
Prior to joining University Credit Union, Poplaski was a senior videographer for Northern Light Health. He oversaw all social media efforts across multiple platforms.
He also served as the first Young & Free Spokester for Maine Credit Unions, advocating for the credit union movement and encouraging young adults to seek credit unions for their financial advice and needs.
“Seth’s previous experience in the industry and his proven dedication and passion for the credit union philosophy of people helping people, will continue to strengthen the relationships between UCU and the diverse needs of the communities we serve,” said Renee Ouellette, president and CEO of University Credit Union.
“Seth joins Jenn Deschene and Lesley Ridge who are on the ground every day, listening and engaging and delivering financial education, sponsorship and volunteer service where it’s needed most.”
Poplaski holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maine.
University Credit Union, established on the University of Maine campus in 1967, has locations in Orono, Bangor, Farmington, Gorham, Portland and Presque Isle and will soon open a Machias site.
It ranks No.6 among the largest Maine-based credit unions, according to the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists. That ranking is based on the credit union's assets of $455 million as of Sept. 30, 2022.
