The University of Southern Maine Foundation has named Corey Hascall, a USM graduate, its new president and CEO.
Hascall has served as interim president for the foundation since September 2024 and was vice president for five years. She steps into a role held by Ainsley Wallace, who was a key figure in raising funds to grow the campus.
“I’m honored to lead during such a pivotal moment at my alma mater,” said Hascall. “USM is thriving — from the groundbreaking Promise Scholars program to the new Crewe Center for the Arts opening in 2025. Together, we’re creating incredible opportunities for our students and Maine’s future.”
Under Hascall’s leadership, the foundation plans to expand its support for scholarships, innovative programs and campus development.
“Corey’s exceptional leadership and her record of advancing the strategic priorities of USM make her the ideal choice to lead the Foundation,” said Jacqueline Edmondson, president of USM. “Our partnership has given me a front-row seat to her talent for building connections and unwavering commitment to student success. We are thrilled to have Corey at the helm during this exciting chapter for USM.”
Hascall’s career spans over two decades in political strategy, communications and fundraising.
Prior to joining the USM Foundation in 2017, she directed state and federal campaigns and led community relations and crisis communications at top firms, including POWER Engineers.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and a certification in mediation from the University of Southern Maine.
Hascall is also dedicated to the community. She has served on boards, including Ecology School, the Nash Foundation and the Maine Women’s Lobby. At the Ecology School, she co-chaired its first capital campaign and now serves as an emeritus board member.
“Corey’s deep connection to USM, extensive leadership experience, and bold vision for the future make her the ideal leader for the Foundation,” said Steve deCastro, chair of the USM Foundation’s board of directors.
The University of Southern Maine, part of the University of Maine System, is a public university with over 3,425 full-time undergraduate students taking courses online and at campuses in Portland, Gorham and Lewiston-Auburn.
USM was ranked No. 3 among Maine's largest colleges and universities in the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on full-time undergraduate enrollment in fall 2024.
