A Texas company has acquired Westbrook-based Pine State Services Inc., which provides residential heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services in Cumberland and York counties.
Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning LLC said it has purchased “substantially all” of Pine State’s assets but did not disclose terms in a news release Monday.
Pine State employs about 70 people, who will be joining Service Experts, according to the release. The Maine company will continue to do business as Pine State Services under current General Manager Shawn White and the existing management team, including co-founders and partners Jim Marcisso and Lee Nicely.
Marcisso, Nicely and Sam Marcisso Jr. founded Pine State in 1995. The company, which also operates a branch in Biddeford and a fleet of 50 service vehicles, works in 31 communities from Brunswick to Ogunquit.
Pine State was one of over 40 Maine companies that earlier this year worked with developer Crossroads Holdings LLC to convert the former Scarborough Downs grandstand into a mass COVID-19 vaccination site. Pine State installed air quality ionization components in the facility’s hot air systems in order to help neutralize bacteria and viruses, according to the company's blog.
Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, Service Experts is one of North America's largest heating and air conditioning service companies, with over 4,000 employees and 93 locations in the U.S. and Canada including 13 in the Northeast.
"We're excited for this opportunity with Pine State as we expand our footprint in the Northeast," said Greg Worley, vice president of Service Experts’ East Division. "With the addition of Pine State, our team is proud to provide residential plumbing, HVAC and electrical services in the Portland, Maine, and surrounding area."
