Rockbridge, an Ohio-based hotel investment firm, has selected a global hotel management company to manage Westin Portland Harborview hotel, 157 High St., on the corner of Congress Street, in Portland’s downtown.
The management contract with Interstate Hotels & Resorts extends the hotel management company’s coast-to-coast expansion, which includes three Salt Lake City hotels recently added to its portfolio.
Westin Portland Harborview has been owned by Rockbridge since 2011.
"Interstate is proud to be the designated management company for such a notable property," said Mike Deitemeyer, Interstate Hotels & Resorts president and CEO in a news release. "We look forward to managing this historic landmark hotel in partnership with Rockbridge, delivering a unique New England experience."
The hotel is across Congress Street from the Portland Museum of Art, and opened in 1927 as the Eastland Park Hotel. Rockbridge launched an extensive renovation of the hotel after buying it for $6.9 million in 2011. It has 289 rooms and suites, 15,000 square feet of event space and a ballroom. It also has two restaurants — Congress Squared Restaurant, which features seafood and locally sourced ingredients, and the Top of the East rooftop restaurant, which has panoramic views of Casco Bay.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts operates branded full- and select-service hotels, resorts, convention centers and independent hotels, with a global portfolio of 540 properties in 11 countries.
Rockbridge has been investing in and building brands for 20 years. It has made over 225 hotel investments in 38 states worth $6 billion in capitalization.
