Wilton-area call centers to hire 200

Call centers in western and central Maine are expected to hire another 200 people in the next few months, and have partnered with the Wilton Career Center to help find applicants.

The career center is holding an open house Thursday morning in response to a number of call centers in the area looking to grow their ranks, according to the Morning Sentinel. Centers hiring include Skyes Enterprises and Barclays in Wilton, NotifyMD in Farmington and T-Mobile in Oakland. Access Worldwide recently hired 12 new people at its Augusta location and plans to hire another 20 this week. Most of the jobs are entry-level with pay between $10 to $12 per hour, with benefits.

According to the Maine Department of Labor, the number of call center jobs in Maine has remained relatively flat over the last 10 years at around 8,500.
