A Dover-Foxcroft woman convicted of stealing more than $300,000 from her employer will spend a little more than three years in prison.
A federal judge Monday sentenced Dawn Zehrung, also known as Dawn Hull and Dawn Grover, to 37 months in prison for health care fraud, according to the Bangor Daily News. Zehrung in March pleaded guilty to submitting false bills to insurance companies while employed at Bangor Women's Health Care from June 2006 to January 2009, and then writing bonus checks to herself. She was also ordered to pay more than $355,000 in restitution to five victims, including MaineCare, Medicare and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
It's Zehrung's third offense. In 2001, she was convicted of theft in Alaska for stealing $10,000 from a pediatric practice and sentenced to 45 days in jail. In 2007, she was convicted in Cumberland County of stealing more than $1,000 from a Brunswick lawyer's office.
