Wood-fiber cloth maker looks to expand production, add employees

A Maine company that manufactures multi-use cloths from wood fiber is ramping up production and hopes to add 35 workers over the next two years.

The Bangor Daily News reported that GLOBEco Maine LLC, which sells its products under the DuraFresh brand, plans to ship 150,000 packages of the multi-use cloths, worth about $400,000, to more than 300 retailers as far west as St. Louis over the next three months.

So far, the company, which was founded in 2013, has sold about 10,000 units of cloths, President Phil Pastore told the BDN.

The wood fiber material is made in Asia and shipped for final assembly to the company’s manufacturing operation in Dover-Foxcroft, which opened in July.

Pastore and partner Mark Snyder hope to grow the company’s workforce from five employees to 40 over the next two years. It also has a sales office in Scarborough.
