Workshop aims to increase value of commercial property

The Maine Real Estate and Development Association is presenting a workshop on maximizing the value of commercial properties by focusing on energy assets before a property is acquired.

This discussion will cover how to identify under-performing properties, understand and quantify energy costs, budget for implementing improvements and how to maintain low levels of consumption, according to a press release from MEREDA. Presenters will also discuss how increased cash flow from energy improvements is treated by appraisers and the subsequent impact on property values.

Presenters will show how performing due diligence on potential acquisitions can mitigate risk from fuel costs, but also expose untapped profit potential.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 13 from 7:30 - 9 a.m. at the Clarion Hotel, 1230 Congress St., Portland. For more information, or to register, click here.
