Wright Express named Forbes best company
Wright Express Corp., a payment processor for commercial and government vehicle fleets in South Portland, has been named to Forbes magazine's top small companies in the country.
The company ranked No. 26 on the list of America's 200 Best Small Companies for 2009, according to a press release from Wright Express. This is the second year in a row Wright Express has made the list, and last year the company placed No. 118. The rankings are based on a number of factors, including sales and earnings growth and return on equity. Wright Express President and CEO Michael Dubyak called the honor "a tremendous achievement for us as a company ... in what has been a challenging year."
The company has reported rising income but dropping revenues this year, although revenues have been ahead of company and Wall Street expectations.
