While the incidence of COVID-19 has generally been declining in Maine, the delta variant of the coronavirus is causing more and more cases of the disease. The new outbreaks are hitting states such as Missouri, Arkansas and Nevada particularly hard, and in some cases are affecting areas with high vaccination rates. Delta now accounts for more than half of all cases being diagnosed in the U.S.

"Although we expected the delta variant to become the dominant strain in the United States, this rapid rise is troubling,” said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, in a July 8 White House briefing.

If our government shuts everything down again, the economy will be DOA with a DNR!

I am not worried about the virus, but I am worried about what the reaction to it may be. I hope that we have learned enough from the past year and a half to know that a shutdown can be more harmful than the virus.

I certainly hope we don't make the same mistake again!! The first time was ridiculous but doing it again would border on negligence by our governor and would be a travesty for our state! Let's not go crazy.

Come on folks. This thing is what it was but they are still trying to scare people to do more. It's done. The goose is cooked. Now pull up a chair and get over yourself. Did people forget that the only real concern and the reason for masks was to keep the hospitals from running out of beds. But they never did and never will. Ya maybe COVID was different from the flu, but the symptoms and results were just about the same. I can't wait for the data about how many people who got flu shots ended up getting COVID. zERO?

What a tremendous waste of money.

I voted Yes because I fear the current Administration is inclined to over react to perceived threats whether or not a shut-down is justified by science.
