Recent reports show that Maine's housing market has cooled off from the peak it reached in June, when the median home price was $360,000, a record.

In August, the median sales price dropped to $340,000 and sales were off 9.89% from August 2021, according to the Maine Association of Realtors.

And yet home prices are still at historic highs. Keep in mind, just five years ago, in 2017, Maine's median sales price was $200,000.

With lingering fears that interest rates will continue to rise and recession may be looming, timing may be critical.
