It's Maine calling
Many Mainers are inordinately proud of the fact that the state has one area code. The recent news that numbers now won't run out until 2029 was met with relief by some who feel "207" is a brand that has a definite following. But some people feel it's not a big deal to have more than one area code and don't see what all the fuss is about.

So many people are hung up on 207. Yeah, it's a Maine thing but with the explosion of devices that need a phone number it is only a matter of when, not if. The whole trauma thing seems centered in southern Maine so I'm pretty sure they will insist on keeping that area code and giving a new one to us folks 'up north'. Interesting factoid, the geographical center of the state is just south of Dover Foxcroft. Hint, its about 45 minutes northwest of Bangor. Central Maine starts around Newport, not Lewiston. just sayin'
