Tuesday, March 8, is International Women's Day, celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day, first marked over a century ago, also sounds a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
The theme of the 2022 IWD is #BreakTheBias, and urges:
Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions — all day, every day.
We can break the bias in our communities. We can break the bias in our workplaces. We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities.

Our organization has always had more women than men, and the head of the organization is currently a woman (me). While it was once needed, I believe that the time is over for the constant emphasis on women and girls. I think you will find that young men are the ones who most need the encouragement now. There are already more women going to college, more women attaining advanced degrees, and women moving up in all industries, while our young men are floundering. They have had a lifetime of hearing that women can do anything while they are virtually ignored, and it is having an impact. They no longer know what their role is. So, no, our business will not be creating pathways for just women to succeed. We will encourage anyone who wants to work hard and succeed.
Our company has always had an open path for women to advance as easily as men. Your merit will dictate how quickly you advance, not your gender!

This bias theme ignores that we have achieved equality in our workplaces based on merit. The majority of my company's management are women, and most companies I work with have an even balance of each gender in their management teams. The only bias we need to break is wanting senior positions due to your gender versus earning it. Bravo to the hard-working ladies that earned their positions on merit, and not because of this biased campaign malarky.
