Poll results

Spring has gotten off to a decidedly un-springlike start in many parts of Maine.

While early April snowfalls aren't unusual, the severity of the storms on March 23-24 and April 4 seemed to catch many people by surprise.

Some businesses and residents criticized the outage response by Maine utility companies. At the peak of the storm last week, over 350,000 customers — mostly those of Central Maine Power — were without electricity.

Some people criticized the snowplowing on state and local roads. And some residents said there should have been more warming centers in municipalities where power and heat went out.

In general, do you feel Maine utilities and government agencies responded adequately to the recent severe storms?
Yes, the response was outstanding and much better than adequate (29%, 88 VOTES)
Yes, the response was adequate, given the challenges of the weather (52%, 158 VOTES)
No, the response was inadequate, despite the weather's challenges (14%, 42 VOTES)
No, the response was poor and much worse than adequate (5%, 16 VOTES)

Wish you had separated the poll for utilities versus government.
