It's the week afterward, and many Mainers continue to discuss the process, the numerical results, the causes and the effects of all that happened on Election Day.
In the Portland area, businesspeople debate the impact of local referendums. Across the state, some people are scratching their heads over the astronomical cost of Maine's U.S. Senate race. And many Americans still disagree about the outcome of the presidential election.
Is it time to move on, already?

Ensuring the integrity of our election is more important to deem it a distraction.
There is always the need to make sure an election has been correctly decided. Whether any problems occurred that changed the outcome of any of the races or not, we need to verify that our results are correct, especially in a year when the ways our elections were conducted were very different from "normal" years. Otherwise, there will always be questions about the validity of the results, and people will have even less trust in our system than they already do.
The Federal Election process in “normal” years has holes big enough to drive a aircraft carrier through with the advent of large scale mail in voting the system is wide open for fraud. Did it happen? I don’t know but we owe it to the country to find out. We talk about fairness and equality shouldn’t the political class be held to the same standards as us “regular” folks?
The election process should always be subject to review - not necessarily because of fraud, but also because of inherent issues related to the various methods of voting.
