By most signs, Maine's residential real estate market appears to be growing vigorously — but some people wonder if that will soon change.

In both July and August, the numbers of Maine home sales were nearly 5% less than the comparable monthly totals in 2020.

Prices have continued to increase by double digits. The increase in the August median price over the figure for August 2020 was 14.8%, according to the Maine Association of Realtors. However, that's 9% less than the difference in the July median prices.

“Residential real estate has been resilient as we transition through the pandemic, but has the market started to level?” said MAR President Aaron Bolster, broker and owner of Allied Realty in Skowhegan.

    Both inflation and having foreclosed homes back on the market should bring prices down somewhat.
