After a brief reprieve, gas is again topping $4 a gallon and plane tickets are out of sight. According to finder.com, as of Nov. 10, the cost of a gallon of gas in Maine averaged $3.958, more than the national average of $3.84 per gallon. A Nov. 3 CNBC article says in the last year, the consumer price index for airline tickets increased by 25% — the largest jump since the Federal Reserve of St. Louis began tracking the index in 1989.
