Poll results

With the National Football League conference champions crowned Sunday, odds are already being set for Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7. As this poll went live, they favored last year's winner, the Kansas City Chiefs, by 3.5 points over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But with the Bucs now led by former New England QB Tom Brady, appearing in his 10th Super Bowl, the game could be even closer.

There's more news for sports fans, and sports wagerers. After COVID-19 forced the cancellation of last year's March Madness, the men's college basketball championship tournament is back on, with the first four games tipping off March 18. Because of the pandemic, most of the 67 scheduled games will take place in Indianapolis, surrounded by a "bubble" of security and health precautions.

While Maine has rejected attempts to legalize sports gambling, state law allows "social" forms of it including the office pools that are popular at this time of year. However, with many Mainers working from home or dealing with financial hardships, fewer bets may change hands.

No matter where the workplace is or what type of work place, no one should be engaged in gambling at work. Just a very bad idea.
