Catholic Charities Maine

2023 Goals

As one of the largest statewide private human service agencies in Maine, we provide leadership programs and services to:

  • reduce poverty
  • support families
  • advocate for justice in social structures
  • help newcomers to Maine and other underserved populations
  • Our goal is to serve those in need, of all faiths, with special emphasis on Maine’s most vulnerable populations — the poor, elderly and children. We continue to analyze trends, pursuing mission-related opportunities for existing service areas, identified target areas and emerging social needs, including, but not limited to:
  • providing behavioral and mental health services for adults and children
  • sustaining strong services in substance use disorder treatment and recovery
  • strengthening and growing services for Maine’s aging population
  • creating program models for emergency assistance services
  • addressing hunger/food security issues
  • aiding refugees and immigrants succesful integration into new communities
  • We seek to grow our donor base by cultivating relationships with both businesses and individuals and demonstrate we are trustworthy of their support through transparency and effective stewardship of their funds.

Fundraising/Event Opportunities

Catholic Charities Maine’s annual Put Children First Golf Classic, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022, is held every September in the Greater Portland area to support childcare scholarships for low-income, working families at our two child development centers in Portland and Biddeford. We welcome sponsors at various monetary levels, volunteers, and new teams! For more information, please contact our Development Office at Development@ccmaine.org or (207) 523-1188.

Giving Opportunities

Catholic Charities Maine Community Partners are businesses that make just one yearly donation that will, in turn, help thousands of Mainers in need. CCM Corporate Community Partners receive yearlong benefits and exposure as our way of saying “thanks.”

Threads of Hope Thrift Stores in Caribou, Sanford, Monticello and Presque Isle welcome clothing, furniture and houseware donations. We will provide a Drop Box to your company site for collection purposes on a temporary or ongoing basis. As a

United Way agency, we appreciate your consideration at pledge time and the support of businesses that encourage employee participation by matching funds.

Donate a vehicle! Even if no longer road-worthy, vehicles can serve a higher purpose helping fund CCM services statewide. Call (855) 460-4483 or visit https://www.ccmaine.careasy.org. Vehicles are towed at no cost, and donors receive a tax credit. Trucks, boats, motorcycles, trailers, and more are accepted.

Volunteer Opportunities

With 20 programs serving people across the state of Maine, we have abundant opportunities for volunteers to lend a hand, and the need has truly never been greater. Whether it’s checking on an older neighbor, reading to children in one of our childcare centers, helping with transportation, mentoring a New Mainer, sorting donations at our Thrift Stores, or supporting staff at our offices statewide, volunteers make our mission possible. In 2021, 446 volunteers gave 26,606 hours of their time in service to others. To find the volunteer opportunity that’s right for you, visit https://www.ccmaine.org/volunteer
