We provide our community with youth mentorship and leadership programing, civic education and engagement opportunities, building community networks and coalitions and developing holistic and culturally competent pathways to accessing health care and social services, higher education and employment opportunities. Since 2020 GCSM has experienced tremendous growth as we work to meet the shifting needs of the New Mainer community throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic. Our 2022 annual budget is now $1.2 million thanks to several new grants and contracts, and we’ve hired new staff to support expanded programming in response to community needs during these challenging times. Our 2022/2023 goals are focused on maintaining our flexibility and responsiveness to the emergent needs of the community, while also strengthening our internal infrastructure and engaging in strategic planning to ensure sustainability for our robust programming. The strategic planning process is already underway, and we have hired an assistant executive director and a director of operations to lead our internal capacity-building efforts. Grounded in our programmatic focus areas of leadership, wellness and community building, this work will enhance our current programming, guide our continued growth, and increase our community impact. We look forward to sharing our continued community success with all our constituents and supporters.
We encourage community members and businesses to consider contributing to GCSM’s Holiday/Year End campaign to support our work with the New Mainers and BIPOC youth. Donations can be made on our website at https://gcsmaine.org/donate or mailed to 501 Forest Ave., Portland, ME 04103. GCSM is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and, as such, individual and business contributions are tax-deductible. Gifts can be earmarked to directly support our Youth Leadership programs, our Community Education programs or provide general organizational support.
