2025 Goals

Kennebec Behavioral Health’s 2024/2025 goals include refining its system for recruiting and retaining staff through professional development and training. KBH will continue to analyze and expand its benefits packages, reimbursement programs and technology. With more innovative technology, the agency plans on allowing for more flexibility for staff and streamlining various processes such as documentation.

Further, the agency will work to improve its infrastructure through renovation projects at multiple locations including a new location for administrative staff in Waterville.

KBH is actively working toward achieving Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) status by Jan. 1, 2025. CCBHCs offer comprehensive, integrated care to community members, meeting or exceeding state and federal service standards. By enhancing access to evidence-based services, crisis support and coordinated care for mental health and substance use disorders, CCBHCs benefit individuals, families and entire communities. KBH collaborates with the State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services in their CCBHC demonstration project, funded by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). This project establishes oversight, payment and evaluation processes for Maine CCBHC providers. Reimbursement for services provided to MaineCare members will follow a prospective payment system (PPS) based on the nine essential services outlined in state and national CCBHC criteria, further enhancing the support available to community members.

Fundraising events/Opportunities

Kennebec Behavioral Health will be hosting its annual community fundraiser, A Night Out, on Nov. 1, 2024. The in-person event will include an 80’s themed mystery show with Mystery 207. Appetizers, a buffet dinner, silent auction and raffle will be included during the night. Guests are welcome to wear costumes following the theme. Tickets are available to the public to purchase at www.kbhmaine.org/anightout.

Businesses can become regular sponsors and/or in-kind sponsors. A Night Out has four sponsorship levels (not including basket sponsorship level), some of which include tickets to the event. Basket sponsors may donate a gift certificate, item or basket for the raffle. More information can be found at www.kbhmaine.org/anightout/become-a-sponsor/. Funds raised through the event benefit KBH’s College Scholarship Fund.

Giving Opportunities

Gifts to KBH can be restricted to a specific program or kept unrestricted to go where the need is greatest, such as Project Recovery or the Substance Use Disorder Prevention Program. Every gift that is made is someone’s next step toward recovery.

KBH hosts two giving appeals, one in the spring and one in the fall. Individuals can sign up for our e-newsletter by visiting our website to receive information about programs in need and giving opportunities. Volunteer Opportunities

Kennebec Behavioral Health offers opportunities to those interested in volunteering at the Board level. We have four separate corporations – KBH Programs and Services, Kennebec Mental Health Associates (KMHA) Foundation, KMHA Real Estate and the KMHA Parent Board.

KBH also has a CCBHC Advisory Committee for its CCBHC Improvement & Advance Project in Somerset County.
