MVH is committed to continuing to provide award-winning, exceptional and expert care for veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents as a Provider of Choice and an Employer of Choice at our six Homes within the state of Maine. Whether it’s long term care or rehabilitative services, our team develops customized care plans for each resident, guided by our Mission of “Caring for those who served,” and our Core Values: Honesty & Integrity, Veterans are Unique, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork, and Leadership.
As an independent nonprofit organization, Maine Veterans’ Homes relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to help us provide activities and programs that improve the quality of life and enjoyment of our residents in addition to their clinical needs. The MVH Community Fundraising Guide, available for download at https://www.MaineVets.org provides fundraising tips to support Maine Veterans. Our Homes also have “wish lists” that are frequently updated, providing ways for those interested to support Maine Veterans with gifts from $10 to $10 million to support activity funds and quality of life comforts specific to each Veteran.
Maine Veterans’ Homes’ largest annual appeal occurs in November, to coincide with Veteran’s Day. The MVH Veterans’ Heroes Calendar is produced annually, and includes the life stories and portraits of selected residents from each of our six Homes. For more information about this appeal, and to join the mailing list, please visit https://www.MaineVets.org. Each of our six Homes also accept gifts of cash and checks at their respective front desks. We frequently accept gifts in kind, and request that you contact our Main Office in advance to ensure that we are the best recipient of your donation. Gifts via credit card can be made at the Homes or securely on our website: https://www.MaineVets.org. Our Development Office is also available to receive your inquiries and assist donors who are interested in giving through estate planning, endowments, or annuities.
Our MVH Volunteers will tell you that volunteering for a day or a lifetime is a mutually rewarding experience at Maine Veterans’ Homes. Your gift of time is gratefully appreciated, and greatly enhances the daily life of our Veterans. Local businesses and service organizations frequently assist with events as well as with individuals as part of our valued MVH Volunteer team. Our residents benefit from the integration of our well trained, highly caring and deeply committed volunteers as they closely assist MVH staff members. Volunteer opportunities include being event helpers, escorts on outings, providing visits and companionship, mail delivery, driving residents to appointments, and assisting with activities such as music, gardening, arts and crafts, or reading. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to the Activities Director at the Home you wish to volunteer at by filling out the Info Contact Sheet available at https://www.MaineVets.org.
