Casalinova Development Group and GIRI Hotel Management have announced plans for an 80- to 100-room hotel directly across from the Oxford Casino.
The Advertiser Democrat reported the $10 million project hopes to break ground as soon as possible to open by the spring of 2014.
Glen Holmes, director of the Western Maine Economic Development Council, estimated the hotel will ultimately employ 80 to 100 people, the paper reported. It would be built in two phases, adding 80 rooms in the first phase and additional rooms, conference space and a restaurant in the second phase.
The paper reported the project will also include construction of a new wastewater treatment facility and extension of sewer lines from the hotel location on Route 26 toward Mechanic Falls.
GIRI Hotel Management also owns and operates hotels in Freeport, Augusta, Waterville and Brunswick and other locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
