$2.5M multi-use project proposed for ex-armory

South Portland’s former National Guard armory could be the site of a mixed-used development, if a proposal is approved.

Priority Real Estate Group has submitted a plan to the city for a $2.5 million project that will include office space, community meeting space, a tourism bureau, gas station, convenience store and possibly a coffee shop or deli, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Priority acquired the former National Guard armory site, which includes 2.75 acres, from the city in November. The developer, which plans to preserve the armory’s art deco look, is asking the city to approve a conditional use zoning amendment for the property, which is located between a residential zone and a limited business zone. Priority Real Estate Group is based in Topsham.
