‘60 Minutes’ to feature wreck of El Faro cargo ship
CBS News’ “60 Minutes” is scheduled to air a segment Sunday on the sinking of El Faro, a cargo ship that had five Maine Maritime Academy graduates on board.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the program will be the first to publicly show video of the wreck, located 15,000 feet beneath the Atlantic in the Bermuda Triangle.
The 790-foot El Faro disappeared on Oct. 1 after encountering Hurricane Joaquin. It was on its weekly cargo route between Florida and Puerto Rico. The crew, all of which are considered lost, included 28 Americans and five Poles.
