Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy continues to reign supreme as Mainers' alcoholic beverage of choice, according to new data released by the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages & Lottery Operations. However, sales in 2011 did fall over previous years.
The bureau released the state's top 25 items based on sales in 2011, on which four different sizes of Allen's Coffee Brandy made the top 10. Various sizes of the liquor ranked Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 9, bringing in nearly $12 million in sales. The No. 1 seller, the 1.75-liter bottle, brought in $6 million alone. A total 988,123 bottles of Allen's Coffee Brandy were sold in Maine last year. It's the first time sales of Allen's Coffee Brandy have fallen below $12 million and 1 million bottles in five years, according to the Bangor Daily News.
Allen's is made by M.S Walker in Somerville, Mass. According to Allen's website, the drink has been Maine's top-selling alcoholic beverage in Maine for more than 20 years.
