Anthem releases network list for exchange proposal

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has released the list of doctors and hospitals included in the health insurance plan it hopes to provide through a new state exchange next year, according to the Morning Sentinel.

Anthem's plan, a collaboration with the MaineHealth network, drew strong criticism from Central Maine Healthcare, which filed a lawsuit earlier this week to compel the state to release details about the Anthem plan.

CMHC's vice president for public affairs, Chuck Gill, characterized the Anthem plan as a "purely competitive move by MaineHealth."

A full copy of Anthem's provider list published by Maine Today Media shows that Central Maine Medical Center, a part of CMHC, and some other hospitals that compete against the MaineHealth network are not included in the Anthem plan.

Anthem is one of two providers that filed to provide plans on Maine's health care exchange, a part of the Affordable Care Act.
