Aroostook wind farm approved

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has given its approval to a wind farm in Aroostook County.
The DEP yesterday approved an environmental permit for First Wind's 51-megawatt wind farm in Oakfield, according to a press release from the department. First Wind, which also does business in Maine as Evergreen Wind, filed its application for the 34-turbine wind farm in April.
First Wind already operates wind farms in Aroostook and Washington counties.
