Auburn nets $1.7M for technology park
The city of Auburn is receiving $1.7 million in federal funds to pave the way for a new, 119-acre technology industrial park. U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud announced yesterday the city and the Auburn Business Development Corp. will receive the funds from the Economic Development Administration to build the infrastructure for the planned park at the end of Lewiston Junction Road, near the Poland border.
The grant will fund construction of roads and necessary water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, according to a press release from Michaud. The city projects the new industrial park could create approximately 200 new jobs and attract $10 million in private investment.
Keith McBride, economic development assistant for Auburn, told the Sun Journal the city hopes to begin taking bids for the work later this spring.
