The Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services, an Augusta-based organization dedicated to advancing quality mental health and substance use treatment, has hired Adam Bloom-Paicopolos as executive director.
He began in the position on June 1, succeeding Malory Shaughnessy.
Bloom-Paicopolos will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the group, including strategic planning, program development and advocacy efforts.
He will collaborate closely with member organizations, policymakers and community partners to strengthen the network of care for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges in Maine.
"It is an honor to continue the outstanding legacy of mission-driven leadership that Malory Shaughnessy has built at the Alliance," said Bloom-Paicopolos.
"As Maine continues to experience unprecedented demand for community-based behavioral health services, my vision is for all Mainers to have meaningful and equitable access to the care that they deserve."
Prior to joining the Alliance, Bloom-Paicopolos served as an analyst at ATI Advisory, where he advised and supported states, providers and other health care organizations in navigating federal and state policy and regulatory environments.
His experience also includes working on the public policy team at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, where he was responsible for a broad portfolio of issues with congressional, policymaker and stakeholder relations.
Bloom-Paicopolos holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
"We are thrilled to welcome Adam Bloom-Paicopolos as the new executive director of the Alliance," said David McCluskey, president of the organization's board.
"His exemplary leadership, combined with a deep-rooted passion for advancing behavioral health care, will undoubtedly propel our organization forward as we continue our important work that supports mental health and addiction services, expands access to care, and ensures that every individual in Maine receives the support they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.”
