Baldacci appoints new finance commish
Former State Budget Officer Ellen Schneiter has been sworn in as the state's acting finance commissioner.
Schneiter will replace Ryan Low as commissioner of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, according to a press release from Gov. John Baldacci's office. Low has accepted a position as interim president for administration at the University of Maine at Farmington. Schneiter has served as the state budget officer since 2006, and has also served as the department's associate commissioner and the deputy director of the Governor's Office of Health Policy and Finance.
Gov. Baldacci will nominate her for confirmation, which will be considered by the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee and during a Senate confirmation session to be held later this year.
