Bangor health clinic lays off 10

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor has laid off 10 employees and plans to leave two other positions unfilled.
The Rev. Bob Carlson, president of the health care center, said case managers and administrative and support staff were terminated this week, according to the Bangor Daily News. He told the paper the layoffs were made to ensure the center runs as lean as possible. "Our margins are very thin," he said.
The organization operates outpatient centers in Bangor and Old Town, as well as other sites in the region, and recently opened a new primary care clinic in Brewer.
