Bangor Savings expands in Portland

Bangor Savings Bank is planning to open four new branches in the Portland area, creating 23 new jobs.
The company plans to invest $4 million in the four new branches, one of which will open on Middle Street in the city's Old Port in July, while the others will be in Portland and Falmouth and open by January 2011, according to a press release from the company advancing a press conference in Portland held this morning. The new branches will give the company a total of 80 Portland area-based employees, a major jump from the 10 the company had five years ago. The bank currently has four locations in the greater Portland area.
Bangor Savings has almost 6,000 personal customers and 1,200 business customers in the Portland area.
