Bank of America has promoted longtime employee Brian King to its Maine market president, the company announced Wednesday.
King succeeds Bill Williamson, who served as market president for 10 years and will retire next year after more than four decades with the bank.
King, whose promotion takes effect immediately, has been with BofA in Maine for more than 25 years, most recently as a checking product executive based in Belfast, his LinkedIn profile shows.
BofA, owned by the New York-based Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC), currently employs 750 people in Maine. Bank of America holds the state's fifth-largest market share, as ranked by deposits according to the 2022 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
As president of Bank of America Maine, King will be tasked with connecting the banking and investment resources offered through the bank's eight business lines to people and companies across the state.
“Over his 25-year career at Bank of America, Brian has established deep relationships with teammates, clients and the Maine community," said Brian Moynihan, the company's CEO. "In this new role, he will help ensure we continue to be a great partner. I thank Bill for his leadership and wish him the very best in his upcoming retirement.”
In addition to his new role, King is responsible for BofA's Advantage Banking Checking Account product and portfolio. Since joining Bank of America, he has held leadership positions in several areas, including underwriting, client satisfaction, retention and marketing.
The long-time Maine resident served as the board of directors chairperson for the Junior Achievement of Maine and as a board member of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. He recently joined the Educate Maine board of directors. He is also involved in BofA's employee networks.
King is an alumnus of Thomas College, holding an undergraduate degree in finance and economics from the Waterville school.
