APXnet, a Berwick telecom company, has designed a new gigabit fiber-optic network for more than two dozen racetracks for NASCAR as part of a five-year deal.
The company announced on Tuesday that the new network will support NASCAR’s content production arm, its broadcast partners and race teams, allowing them to share and receive large video files and other data, along with improving the speed of communications. The network went online on Feb. 22 at the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Fla., and it is being rolled out to connect 27 independently owned race tracks across the country.
“APXnet has the ability to be flexible and meet the individual needs of our clients, and not just offer the same cookie-cutter solutions being offered by most carriers,” Jeffrey S. Wood, CEO of APXnet, said in a prepared statement.
Steve Stum, vice president of operations and technical production at NASCAR Productions, said in a prepared statement that the goal is to create a “faster, more seamless technology experience from the garage to the grandstands.”
