Boeing deal to boost Augusta tech co.

An Augusta technology company is teaming up with aerospace and defense firm Boeing to develop a remotely operated military vehicle.

At a news conference yesterday, Bolduc Technology Group announced its adaptive mobility controls technology, also known as drive-by-wire technology, will be integrated into unmanned military vehicles developed by the Chicago-based Boeing, according to the Kennebec Journal. The systems will be manufactured at Bolduc's facilities in Augusta and Gray, and possibly space at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. President Scott Bolduc said the company, which currently has 16 employees, would hire more employees but did not specify how many. The company's technology, originally developed to help people with disabilities maintain their mobility, has also been used by the Department of Defense's research office since 1994.

Bolduc founded the company in Auburn in 1980. It was located in Baton Rouge, La., for 18 years before moving to Augusta earlier this year.
