Hodgdon, a boatbuilding company based in the midcoast area, is launching a new division after successfully merging its yacht division with two acquired companies that will increase its workforce to 150.
The Bangor Daily News reported the new division, called Hodgdon Yacht Services, brings together the Boothbay Region Boatyard in Southport and Wotton’s Wharf in Boothbay Harbor. The boatyard will provide refitting and support services, in addition to slip and mooring rentals and fuel sales. The wharf will provide dock and slip space.
Hodgdon, which also has locations in East Boothbay, Damariscotta and Richmond, builds custom boats, yachts and projects for the U.S. Department of Defense. The company’s president, Timothy Hodgdon, has previously said the merger will make it one of the state’s largest, full-service marine companies, according to the BDN.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly identified Hodgon's yacht division as the parent company.
