File photo Breeze Airways low-fare airline is introducing service at Portland International Jetport this spring.

Breeze Airways, a domestic low-fare airline, will add a fifth nonstop route with flights from Portland to Long Island, N.Y.

Breeze announced in February nonstop flights and year-round service to Charleston, S.C., Tampa on May 17 and nonstop flights to Orlando, Fla., in September.

Breeze is also offering seasonal summer service to Pittsburgh and Norfolk, Va.

"Breeze starts service from Portland on May 17," said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways. "But we're already at five nonstop destinations before our first flight even touches down next month. We expect this new summer seasonal service, nonstop to Islip, will be as popular as our other PWM routes have proven already. We look forward to further growth from Portland."

Passengers may choose from three fare bundles called Nice, Nicer and Nicest; the latter is only available on Airbus A220 aircraft. Guests also have an a la carte option to choose a "Nice" or "Nicer" bundle and add a first-class seat.

The introductory fare to New York Islip from Portland will begin on June 28, with fares on Wednesday and Saturday, starting June 28, from $49 one way and Nicer from $89.

"We are excited to see Breeze Airways continue to invest and expand in the Portland, Maine market," said Paul Bradbury, director of the Portland International Jetport. "Today's announcement of a fifth destination to New York-Islip before our first flights next month is brilliant! We thank Breeze for their commitment to our market and look forward to welcoming passengers to Maine this summer."

The introductory fare is $39 one-way from Portland to Charleston on Mondays and Fridays (Nicer from $79) starting May 19.

The same fares are in place on Mondays and Fridays from June 2 to Sept. 5 to Norfolk and Pittsburgh.

Flights to Tampa will begin May 17, with Nice bundles from $59 one way, Nicer from $99 and Nicest from $249 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Flights to Orlando will begin on Sept. 21, with service on Sunday and Thursday.

Breeze has ordered 80 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with options for 40 more.

The promotional fare is only available for new reservations. and must be purchased by April 24 for travel by Sept. 3, 2023. The price displayed includes taxes and government fees. Fare prices, rules, routes and schedules are subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

Founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman, Utah-based Breeze Airways began service in May 2021. One year later, it was ranked the No. 2 U.S. best domestic airline of 2021 by Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards.
