Breeze Airways is expanding to Bangor this fall with 3 Florida flights

A budget airline with a nationwide reach will soon be launching service at Bangor International Airport.

Breeze Airways said Tuesday it will begin three nonstop, roundtrip routes between BGR and Florida in October. The carrier will fly to and from Orlando on Thursdays and Sundays, starting Oct. 3, and will offer service to and from Tampa on Mondays and Fridays, starting Oct. 4. Both routes will be year-round.

Seasonal flights will connect Bangor and Fort Myers on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting Oct. 5.

Breeze will become the fifth airline offering regularly scheduled flights at BGR. The airport is currently served by Allegiant, American, Delta and United.

The announcement of the Bangor service is part of a rollout of new routes from Breeze. The Utah-based airline, which began in 2021 and heavily promotes itself as "the nice low cost carrier," also is introducing service at Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; Lancaster, Pa.; Lansing, Mich.; and Pensacola, Fla.

Breeze already flies to and from Portland International Jetport, and with the addition of Bangor has a mix of more than 170 year-round and seasonal nonstop routes between 56 cities in 29 states.

“We’re thrilled to announce five more cities to our expanding network as we continue to add great destinations and also connect the dots between Breeze’s existing cities,” said Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey in a news release. “With Breeze’s added convenience and affordability, our business model continues to see success in cities across the country."

Bangor International is about to begin two major runway and terminal upgrades that will continue over the next two years and are estimated to cost more than $59 million, most of which is coming from federal funds.
