Call center to add 200 Lewiston jobs

An expansion at Affiliated Computer Services in Lewiston is expected to add 200 jobs, company officials announced yesterday.
The call center, which handles support primarily for the retail and health care industries, plans to hire supervisors and call-center agents to provide technical and customer support, according to the Sun Journal. The company currently has 417 employees on East Avenue in Lewiston, and plans to bring that number to more than 600 in the next few months. Spokesman Alex Charles attributed the growth to increased need for customer service in the retail and health care sectors, as well as the strong work force in Lewiston.
ACS, a subsidiary of Xerox, is planning to add 3,000 jobs at its 150 call centers across the globe.
