Career fairs to help employers find the employees they need
Maine Department of Labor’s network of 12 CareerCenters have scheduled a number of hiring events through November at venues across the state. The goal: Connect hundreds of employers seeking to fill permanent and seasonal positions with the skilled workers they need.
"I urge those looking for careers in this tight labor market to visit any CareerCenter," said Gov. Paul R. LePage. "They provide resources and services that will assist you in improving your resume and preparing for job interviews."
Here’s the list of upcoming job fairs and single-employer recruiting events that are planned:

- New, Sept. 14, Bangor: Employer Recruitment: Hollywood Casino
- Sept. 18, Portland: Maine State Government Job Fair
- New, Sept. 18, Rockland: Employer Recruitment: Bonney Staffing
- New, Sept. 18, Hinckley: Employer Recruitment: Spurwink
- Sept. 19, Springvale: Weekly Staffing Agency hiring event
- New, Sept. 21, Bangor: Employer Recruitment: Woodlands Senior Living of Brewer Recruitment
- Sept. 19, Bangor: Employer Recruitment: Healing Spirit Healthcare
- Sept. 24, Springvale: York County Monthly Job Fair
- New, Sept. 24, Augusta: Augusta Career Center Hiring Fair
- New, Sept. 25, Rockland: Employer Recruitment: Assistance Plus
- Sept. 26, Springvale: Weekly Staffing Agency Hiring Event

- Oct. 3, Portland: Manufacturing Job Fair
- Oct. 3, Portland: Portland CareerCenter Job Fair

- Nov. 7, Portland: Health Care Job Fair
- Nov. 8, Portland: USM Fall Job Fair 2018 - open to the public.
The Maine Department of Labor noted that some of the job fairs listed may include third-party events where the CareerCenter is a sponsor but not the host organization. Those event may require a fee to exhibit, so the department advised employers to connect with the coordinator of the event for questions.
Employers interested in exhibiting at a CareerCenter-hosted job fair or an employer recruitment should contact the employer services representative at their closest CareerCenter, which can be found online here.
CareerCenters offer a variety of workshops and services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
