Bangor Publishing Co. expects to close its printing press in Presque Isle, operated by Northeast Publishing, in early October.
The Bangor Daily News, one of the company’s newspapers, reported that printing will be consolidated in Lewiston at a facility owned by MaineToday. Print Works, a commercial printing company that the BDN operates out of the Northeast Publishing facility, will continue to provide printing services to all of its customers.
BDN President Todd Benoit cited rising costs and falling circulation as reasons for the closure.
According to its website, Print Works offers an array of printing that suits local businesses, from logos to large press printing.
Earlier this month, Bangor Publishing Co. acquired Pulse Marketing Agency, a Bangor-based marketing and advertising agency. At that time, Benoit said Pulse brings the company new skills and insight that have helped strengthen hundreds of Maine and New England businesses.
