Casco Bay Island Transit District, which provides ferry service from Portland to the islands of Casco Bay, has hired the former director of finance and administration at Maine Development Foundation as its next director of finance and human resources.
Laurie Bowie brings 20 years of experience in financial management, staff development, strategic planning and human resources to the position.
As director, she will oversee all financial and human resource functions for Casco Bay Lines, including budgeting, financial reporting and employee development. She will work with the executive team to identify opportunities for growth, manage employee policies and processes, and support the board of directors' finance committee.
“This transit district has a long history of providing safe, reliable and vital transportation services to the residents of the Casco Bay islands and the surrounding communities," said Bowie. "I look forward to aiding in its continued success.”
Bowie has worked in various leadership positions at the Alzheimer's Association, including executive director, director of operations, finance director, human resources and IT. In these roles, she oversaw and advised the daily management of the nonprofit organization, directed human resources, and evaluated community impact.
"Laurie's extensive experience in finance and human resources, combined with her proven track record of implementing effective, collaborative and streamlined administrative systems, makes her an excellent addition to the Casco Bay Lines team," said General Manager Hank Berg. "We look forward to the contributions she will make in support of our mission to serve our passengers on Casco Bay."
Casco Bay Lines operates year-round passenger, vehicle and freight service, transporting more than 1 million passengers, 35,000 vehicles and over 500,000 pieces of freight each year.
