The Portland Regional Chamber is running a new, short-term promotional program to reduce the cost of a chamber membership for small businesses.
From Jan. 13 to Feb. 13, the first 100 businesses with fewer than 50 employees to sign up for a year-long membership will receive a 50% discount on their membership dues. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine is sponsoring the program, called Business Boosters, according to a press release.
In addition, small business members that recommit will receive 20% off of their dues for their second year of membership. Eighty percent of the chamber's members have 15 or fewer employees.
A membership with the Portland Regional Chamber includes a number of benefits, including health insurance discounts for Anthem's Chamber Blue Options program, according to the release.
The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce offered a similar discount to new members last May, financed through a partnership with Camden National Bank.
