Charge against Rent-a-Husband dropped

One of three charges against Rent-a-Husband founder Kaile Warren of Windham has been dropped.

A Cumberland County Superior Court judge dismissed a charge of selling unregistered securities, but charges of securities fraud and theft by deception still stand, according to news channel WGME 13. Warren in December was first indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury, and was indicted a second time in April. He pleaded not guilty both times. Judge Thomas Warren heard arguments in the case in August, at which time Kaile Warren's lawyers argued that any rules he broke were done so unintentionally and through the guidance of law firm Preti Flaherty, which represented him for two years until 2008.

Warren founded the handyman company in 1996, and is accused of misleading investors about the company's success and owing more than $1.6 million to dozens of people.
