City Manager Gray to retire

Portland City Manager Joseph Gray Jr. announced today he is retiring after holding the post for a decade.

Gray's career with Portland began in 1969, when he served as city planner for the Model Cities Program. He has also served as project director for the Model Cities Program, deputy director of the Portland Renewal Authority and director of the Department of Planning and Urban Development, according to WCSH-6. "At this stage of my life, it is time for me and my wife, Marie, to explore and enjoy other opportunities," he said in a release.

Gray plans to step down in February.
