Central Maine Healthcare Corp. in Lewiston claims that Brunswick-based Parkview Adventist Medical Center, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, owes it and its Lewiston hospital affiliate more than $13 million.
The Forecaster reported that CMHC and Central Maine Medical Center are fighting Parkview’s assertions in court that neither party holds a security interest in the Brunswick hospital’s assets, which includes cash collateral that has been court-approved.
CMHC has provided contracted services to Parkview over several years and once made an unsuccessful attempt to take over the hospital in 2013.
Parkview said CMHC doesn’t hold the security interest because it hadn’t been transferred by the Brunswick hospital’s board. However, CMHC said its right to the more than $13 million is backed up by “security documents” that are related to Parkview’s properties.
