A national leader with expertise in helping manufacturers improve their global competitiveness will be the keynote speaker at the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s annual National Manufacturing Day event.
The event will be held on Oct. 5, at 10 a.m., at Casco Bay Molding, 63 Smada Drive, in Sanford.
The keynote speaker, Carroll Thomas, is director of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership at the National Institute of Standards and Technology of the U.S. Department of Commerce. In that role she leads a nationwide network of MEP centers that focus on helping U.S. manufacturers strengthen their supply chain integration and access new technology, which helps increase their global competitiveness.
She previously was associate administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Small Business Development Centers. Prior to joining SBA, she served in various leadership functions at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
She has more than 30 years of entrepreneurial and small business development experience and holds a bachelor of science degree from Drexel University in design and a master of business administration degree from Johns Hopkins University in international business.
The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership is a program of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and an affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technology under the U.S. Department of Commerce. The national Manufacturing Extension Partnership system is a network of manufacturing extension centers that provide business and technical assistance to smaller manufacturers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Through the partnership, manufacturers have access to more than 2,000 manufacturing and business professionals whose job is to help firms make changes that lead to greater productivity, increased profits and enhanced global competitiveness.
